‘UN Satellite is to be dedicated to A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as a tribute and his vision ‘
Mr.Milind Pimprikar, Chairman of CANEUS Org in Space Technologies headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Founded in 1999, CANEUS serves to develop a common platform for space technology solutions for natural and man-made disaster management. The ‘GlobalSat for DRR’ is a UN-driven global initiative on sharing space technology for disaster risk reduction.
A global satellite for earth observation and Disaster Risk Reduction.
Uses:-
- Forecasting and monitoring
- Mitigating disasters like floods, drought, typhoons, earthquakes, wild fires and windstorms.
In March the 3rd UN World Conference Concluded to launch satellite on DRR held at Sendai , Japan. The concept was initiated by CANEUS Organisation but the chairman of CANEUS said that APJ Abdul kalam has the same vision to find solution for mankinds major problem of natural disasters like earthquakes ,weather prediction and more. So now we planed to dedicate the UN GlobalSat initiative as a tribute to Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam sir renamed as ‘UN Kalam GlobalSat’. he hoped that renaming will inspire the future generation of students, scientists and engineers.
Already Indian initiative for a dedicated satellite for the SAARC countries. Mr. Pimprikar said India, “as a leading space nation in the world, Probably UN-India Workshop in early 2016.
